What’s Important In Early Years Education? Some messages from research

In Europe and the UK there is lively debate about when children should start school and what kinds of curriculum and pedagogical approaches are most effective in the early years. Caroline Sharp of the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) considers some of the most recent research evidence and draws out the key messages for early years staff. Although the starting school age is not an issue in New Zealand there are many parallels with New Zealand research and debate on early years curriculum and pedagogical approaches.
