This report presented the findings from the research undertaken to explore the use of Fire and Emergency New Zealand's fire safety education programmes in schools, kura, and early childhood education (ECE) centres including kōhanga reo.

The purpose of this evaluation was to help Fire & Emergency NZ understand: how it can increase uptake of its fire safety education programmes (English medium and Māori medium); how the programmes are implemented; how the programmes address diversity; and identify opportunities and gaps in current programme resources and delivery.

It was a mixed method evaluation that collected information via a survey of ECE centres, kōhanga reo, schools and kura; focus groups with teachers; and interviews with Fire & Emergency NZ personnel. The project finished in June 2018.
