select your evidence accordingly, and 'prove' your case. This seems very true about debates on internal assessment. Of course, it is not a new debate in New Zealand educational circles. Hands up those who can remember the publication of the Elley and Livingstone's External Examinations and Internal Assessments in 1972? This researched the arguments and
evidence of the '60s and early '70s at a time when there were calls for abolition of (or at least change to) School Certificate and University Entrance. It is still relevant.
